The Intel HD 5500 is an integrated Broadwell graphics card & it is one of the most famous integrated graphics found in several ULV SoCs.

Although it is a very familiar GPU, people were still confused about the gaming performance of this Intel HD 5500 graphics.

After completing the research, I am writing this article to explain the gaming performance of the Intel HD 5500 graphics.

So, Is Intel HD Graphics 5500 good for Gaming?

The Intel HD 5500 graphics provides average gaming performance, it is a good choice for casual gamers, but for pro gamers, this GPU is outdated & not perfect.

After getting the short answer, you might be confused about whether Intel HD graphics are good or not; well, all of your confusion was explained in the below section. So, keep reading this article to the end.

Why is Intel HD 5500 Graphics Good for Gaming?

Let’s explore some of the significant reasons Why Intel HD 5500 Graphics is a good choice for gamers-

Cores or Execution Units

Generally, the execution unit is a CPU or GPU that performs the operations and calculations as instructed by the computer program.

These GPU cores or execution units require multicore systems for better performance.

The more cores or execution units a GPU has, the more efficiently it will run & more efficiently it will perform.

This Intel HD 2500 GPU comes with 24 cores or execution units & according to gamers, the cores between 6 to 8 are sufficient for Gaming.

Core Clock speed

In Gaming, clock rate or clock speed is such a significant factor & clock rate usually refers to the frequency at which the clock generator of a CPU or GPU can generate pulses.

Generally, a higher clock speed rate indicates a faster CPU or GPU & a faster GPU is required for professional Gaming.

The GPU core clock speed measures how fast your graphics processor can process graphics. In short, the higher the GPU clock speed, the quicker the processing &, and the better performance you will get.

This Intel HD 5500 GPU comes with a 300MHz of base clock rate, and it can be overclocked up to 900 MHz, which is considered suitable for Gaming.

Direct X 12

Direct X 12 is a unique technology for gamers, and the Direct X 12 technology enables developers to add amazing graphics effects to Microsoft Windows-based PC games.

Besides this, this also enables game developers the power to deliver mind-blowing visuals with real-time DirectX ray tracing, Variable rate Shading, Mesh Shaders, and Sampler Feedback taking games to a new level.

The Intel HD 5500 graphics card is Direct X 12 compatible; therefore, these graphics provide excellent visual effects during Gaming.

Why Intel HD 5500 is not a good choice for Gamers?

Although this GPU provides good performance for Gaming in some areas, it lacks, and the lacking features are discussed below-

FPS

The term FPS stands for Frame Rates per second & it is the frequency at which consecutive images are captured or displayed.

Simply, it is the number of frames you see onscreen every second.

Generally, a higher FPS is associated with a smoother, more responsive gaming experience, while a low FPS can slow a game.

In general, 60 FPS is considered optimal for Gaming, but this Intel HD 5500 graphics provides a maximum of 30 FPS, which is not sufficient for Gaming.

DDR3

This Intel HD 5500 graphics comes with DDR3 RAM & at the current time, the DDR3 is no longer enough for Gaming.

Compared to the DDR3 (Double Data Rate 3rd Generation), the DDR4 (Double Data Rate 4th Generation) is efficient & is excellent in Gaming.

These are some of the advantages & disadvantages of using the Intel HD 5500 graphics.
