The AMD a10 series processors are powerful and cheap, but people are confused about the gaming performance of this AMD a10 series processor.
I have done some excellent research about the gaming performance of this AMD a10 series model & I am writing this article to inform you about the gaming performance of the AMD a10 processors.
So, Is AMD A10 Good for Gaming?
The AMD a10 series-based processors are suitable for casual gaming because most of these processors comes with the AMD Radeon graphics; but for the pro gamers these processors are not suitable because these CPUs only comes with 4 CPU cores.
Besides this, there were some other pros & cons of using this AMD a10 series CPU for gaming, and all the pros & cons are explained below.
Let’s discuss some of the significant pros of using the AMD a10 series CPUs for gaming-
AMD Radeon Graphics
Graphics is the most crucial aspect of gaming because graphics render the images, scenes, animations that you see on your screen.
Although the external GPUs are the best choice for gamers, many gamers use Integrated graphics to do their job.
In this case, you need better-integrated graphics because not all integrated graphics are suitable for pro gamers.
Most AMD A10 series CPUs come with AMD Radeon integrated graphics; for instance, the AMD a10 7870k CPU comes with AMD Radeon R7 graphics which is enough for gaming.
Moreover, the other Radeon integrated graphics are also suitable for 1080p gaming at high settings.
CPU’s clock rate is one of the most significant factors; according to Wikipedia, clock rate refers to the frequency at which the clock generator of a processor can generate pulses. It is also used as a primary indicator of the processor’s speed.
A high clock rate is required for gamers because high clock speed allows games to run at a higher FPS (Frame rates per second).
According to the expert gamers, the clock rate between 3.5 GHz to 4 GHz is suitable for gaming & most of the AMD a10 model CPUs come with the 3.5 GHz to 3.9 GHz of clock speed rate, which is the perfect clock rate for gaming.
In computing, overclocking is the practice of increasing the clock rate of a computer to exceed that certified by the manufacturer.
In simple terms, you can increase the CPU or GPUs speed by setting a high clock rate or multiplier in the computer’s BIOS, forcing it to perform more operations per second.
Overclocking is an essential feature for gamers. The higher you overclock your CPU or GPU, the more processing power you will get- which translates into faster rendering or multimedia files and smoother running games.
Most AMD a10 series models are unlocked for overclocking, an excellent advantage for gamers.
Now, let’s discuss some of the major cons of using the AMD a10 series CPUs for gaming-
CPU cores are the CPU’s processors & these cores read and execute program instructions. In ancient days every CPU comes with just 1 CPU core.
But, in recent time, every CPU comes with multiple cores which focuses on different tasks. So, the more core a CPU has, the more efficiently it will perform.
CPU cores are a crucial factor for gamers because it helps the gamers to load applications and games faster.
According to the expert opinions, you at least require 6 CPU cores for gaming & better performance; you need 8 CPU cores.
Most AMD a10 series CPUs come with just 4 CPU cores that are not great for gaming.
Default TDP (95W)
TDP stands for thermal design power or thermal design point; it is the maximum amount of heat generated by a computer chip or component that the cooling system in a computer is designed to dissipate under any workload.
The TDP number tells you the maximum heat a computer chip can use in watts, such as a CPU or GPU. It is often used as a primary indicator of power consumption.
More watts equals better performance and higher temperatures, and more power consumption.
From the gaming perspective, lower TDP is favorable & most of the gamers suggest the 65W of default TDP is suitable for gaming because it does increase the temperature & it requires less power.
Some AMD a10 series CPUs come with 95W of default TDP, which is higher than the recommended.
Although the AMD a10 series CPUs come with the Near Silent cooling solutions, which is a suitable cooling solution for the users.
But if you’re a gamer & you do overclock, you should need the wraith series (Wraith Stealth, Wraith Prism, etc.) thermal solution, which is suitable for overclocking and gamers.
These are all the pros & cons of using the AMD a10 series CPUs for gaming purposes; in the below section, I have explained some other facts regarding these AMD a10 series CPUs. So, keep reading this article till the end.
