Why is AMD A8 not compatible with Windows 11? (5 Major Reasons)

Let’s explore the significant reason why the AMD A8 processors are not compatible with the Windows 11-

Secure Boot Capability

This is one of the leading causes behind why most AMD A8 users cannot run Windows 11?

Microsoft wants to make Windows 11 more secure than its previous operating system; therefore, they feature lots of new security features within Windows 11.

The Secure Boot is an important security feature designed to prevent malicious software from loading when your PC boots.

In simple words, if your PC is not capable of secure boot, then the malicious code will be executed in the next reboot, and the device will be compromised.

Although most modern PCs are capable of secure boot, several AMD A8-based PCs are not capable of secure boot.

Because of this simple reason, the AMD A8-based PCs could not run Windows 11.

TPM 2.0 Requirement

The TPM 2.0 chip is another major update within Windows 11. TPM (Trusted Platform Module) technology is designed to provide hardware-based security-related features. In simple words, a TPM chip is a cryptographic chip that enhances a computer’s security & privacy.

Microsoft mentioned on their official blog that you will need the TPM 2.0 chip in your computer to run Windows 11.

Most of the modern PCs which shipped in the past 5 years (from 2016) come with the TPM 2.0 chip.

But the AMD A8-based PCs were too old and launched in 2011; therefore, these devices do not contain the TPM 2.0 chip; therefore, these PCs are not compatible with Windows.

CPU Requirements

According to Microsoft, if you want to install the Windows 11 operating system into your PC, you need the 1 GHz or faster with 2 or more CPU cores on a compatible 64-bit processor.

Although most of the AMD A8 processors come with this CPU specification, few AMD A8 processors do not fulfill the CPU requirements for Windows 11; therefore, these CPUs were unable to run Windows 11.

RAM Requirements

According to Microsoft’s guidelines, you will need 4 GB of RAM in your computer to run Windows 11.

Although most AMD A8 processor-based computers have 4GB of RAM space, only 3.4 GB of RAM space is usable.

So, if you want to run Windows 11, the recommended RAM is 8 GB. So, if your AMD A8 fulfills all the requirements of Windows 11 except RAM, then you can increase your RAM space.

Graphics Card Requirements

As Microsoft mentioned in the system requirements of Windows 11, to run the Windows 11 operating system, you need a graphics card that is compatible with the Direct X 12 WDDM 2.0 driver.

The Windows 11 operating system is excellent gaming because Microsoft puts several new gaming elements within Windows 11 & to improve the gaming, Microsoft introduces the Direct X 12 concept in Windows 11.

The Direct X 12 provides significant performance and efficiency boosts across the board; this includes better CPU utilization and XDR (DirectX Ray-tracing) feature. Besides that, the Direct X 12 enables developers to add amazing graphics effects to Microsoft Windows-based PC games.

The AMD A8-based PCs are low-end PCs; therefore, these PCs are not compatible with the Direct X 12, these are unable to run Windows 11.

Final Thought

Based on these 5 reasons, it can be said that the AMD A8 processors are not compatible with Windows 11 operating system & if you have AMD A8-based PC, then you can check out in the mentioned list whether your CPU is capable of running Windows 11 or not.
