If you are an AMD A12 user like me, then you might be curious to know whether it is possible or not to run Windows 11 on your system.
I have researched Windows 11 & its compatibility with AMD A12, and I am writing this article to answer your question.
So, Can AMD A12 run Windows 11?
No! Most AMD A12 processors are not compatible with Windows 11 because most of these processors and processor based PCs do not complete the system requirements of Windows 11 like- TPM 2.0 chip, Secure Boot capability etc.
Besides these requirements, most of these AMD A12 processors belongs to the 6th & 7th generation, and Microsoft clearly stated that only 8th gen or higher gen processors would be compatible with Windows 11.

I know that there are different models of AMD A12 processors, so how do you know whether your AMD A12 processor supports Windows 11 or not?
To answer this, I have created a list of all the AMD A12 processors below that are not compatible with Windows 11.
Table of Contents
List of AMD a12 Processors not Compatible with Windows 11
Twelve AMD A12 processors are not compatible with Windows 11, including the 6th & 7th gen. Here I have listed all of those processors by mentioning their generation-
- AMD A12- 9800U (7th Gen)
- AMD A12- 9800E (7th Gen)
- AMD A12- 9730P (7th Gen)

Why is AMD A12 not compatible with Windows 11?
Let’s discuss some of the significant reasons why your AMD A12 processor is not compatible with the Windows 11-
TPM Chip
TPM stands for Trusted Platform module & it is one of the crucial requirements for Windows 11. Without a TPM chip, you cannot install Windows 11.

Microsoft wants to make the Windows 11 operating system more secure than its previous versions; therefore, they introduced the TPM concept within Windows 11.
TPM is a cryptographic chip that is designed to provide hardware-based security-related functions. This is such an essential security feature because the malicious software is unable to tamper with the security functions of the TPM.
However, TPM is not a new concept, but to install Windows 11, you need the TPM 2.0 version.
The TPM chips can be integrated inside motherboards, or sometimes the TPM chips also come inside the CPU.
The AMD A12 processors do not offer the TPM (fTPM) support & therefore, these processor-based PCs are not compatible with Windows 11.
UEFI Secure Boot Capability
UEFI stands for Unified Extensible Firmware Interface & it is another security feature introduced within Windows 11.
In simple words, UEFI is an update to traditional BIOS that supports larger hard drives, quicker boot times, more security features & more graphics options.
Although, Secure Boot is not closely related to CPU, according to Microsoft, your system needs UEFI secure boot capability for installing Windows 11.
Most modern PCs are capable of Secure Boot, but most AMD A12 processor-based PCs are not qualified to Secure Boot.
Therefore these AMD A12 processors based PCs are not compatible with the Windows 11 operating system.
Generation
Initially, Microsoft stated that Windows 11 would only support 8th generation or higher than 8th generation processors. However, some of the 7th gen processors are also compatible with Windows 11.
Most of the AMD A12 processors belongs from the 6th & 7th generation and based on Microsoft’s guidelines, most of the 6th & 7th gen processors are not compatible with Windows 11.
Storage
Again, storage is not directly related to the processor, but I mentioned this point because most AMD A12 processor-based PCs don’t have better storage capability.
As Microsoft mentioned, your system needs a 64GB or larger storage device to install Windows 11.

Final Thought
Based on the four facts mentioned above, it can be said that the 6th gen & 7th gen AMD A12 processor-based PCs are not compatible with the Windows 11 operating system.
